When you have a cough, put Vicks Vaporub on your feet, then put on socks. It helps you to breathe and helps lessen the cough.
I have heard some controversy on the internet about putting it on babies feet, but I have never had a problem. I put it on my kids when they are sick in the day and the night and it has helped us.
